Pub crawl and a movie

A few days later than usual, but here it is my new blog. Before you continue reading I have to apologise, because this time I won’t tell you about a trip to a mountain or an islands or anything special really. And I also don’t have any new interesting photos to share with you. Since my previous blog I have been working most of the time. Now I hear you thinking, didn’t he really do anything else than work in more than a week. Well I did, but nothing special. During the week I heard that the most of my family enjoyed the family reunion I helped plan before I left, but surprise, surprise I wasn’t there to join the rest of the family (now what else is new).

So back to Auckland. From Monday till Friday I was busy working on some databases Premier Skills need to promote their courses and I also rewrote this Community Coaching Programme for which they got funded years ago in the UK and now want to introduce in New Zealand.
Between all the work, my roommates and I and some other people I met over here went on a pub crawl on Thursday night in the centre of Auckland. Paying ten dollars to join the pub crawl gave you access to four different pubs/clubs and a free drink in all of them. Considering a beer over here costs between 5 (if you’re lucky) and 9 dollars you can say that isn’t a bad deal plus I got to know a little about the nightlife in Auckland.

In the weekend most of the other people I have met, including my roommate Nils, went on a trip to Rotorua. Nick and I decided not to join this trip, because we had already booked 6 other upcoming trips. On Saturday morning I had to meet up with Andi from Germany who is a former intern of Premier Skills. He still had a bag that belonged to Roger Wilkinson and he asked if I could pick it up for him since we both live in the city centre and it could also be a good opportunity to meet someone new. Andi turned out to be a really nice guy and he also gave me a few good tips for the rest of my stay in New Zealand. After meeting up with Andi Nick and I did some groceries and on our way back to the apartment we decided to check if there were any good movies showing in the cinema that night. After some searching and looking around we got ourselves tickets for the 9 pm show of Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials. Most of the time a sequel to a movie is worse than the first movie, but this one was even better. Afterwards we decided to get a beer somewhere, because it was still early. But you know how things go, one beer leads to another and before you know it you’re eating a burger (or two) at McDonalds at 3.30 in the morning.

So on Sunday I didn’t feel like writing my blog because I was a bit tired. On Monday I went to bed early because I got to join Roger on a meeting in Hamilton the next day. The meeting was all about the Community Coaching Programme I mentioned earlier and although I didn’t actually participated in the meeting it was an interesting experience. On our way back to Auckland Roger and I had enough time (from Hamilton to Auckland takes about 1,5 to 2 hours by car) to talk and discuss about things that need to be done or can be done for Premier Skills and a lot of other things.
When I finally got back to my apartment I saw all the people being escorted out of the building and I couldn’t get inside. Apparently there was a fire drill and everybody had to get outside and stay there for a while. After 15 minutes or maybe more everybody was allowed to get back inside, but with two 19 story buildings and two elevators per building you can understand it takes a while before everybody gets back to their apartment. So also on Tuesday I didn’t feel like writing my blog and that’s why you had to wait (I know at least some of you were waiting for it) till Wednesday for my third blog.

For so far my third week here in Auckland I hope you still like reading my blogs and the next one I try to post online on Monday. Cheers!

Hi you there, nice to see and hear you having such a good time. It's now almost 4 weeks since you left, but it seems like 4 months. It's nice to have WhatsApp and Skype so we can stay in touch and share the daily things with each other. We all enjoy your blogs and the many beautifull pictures.
Miss you a lot but I'm glad it's going well over there.
    Many hugs and kisses, mom.
